Fifteen years ago when I first set foot on Pulau Sibu, Johor there was a wonderful back packer's place at the end of our beach called O & H. It was full from Chinese New Year to Deepavali and we loved the travelers it attracted. Most afternoons I'd walk down there with my children for a chat and a cuppa. Unfortunately idiotic logging between our property and the end of their property caused that land to disappear into the sea completely some years back and since then there has been no where for budget travelers to stay on Sibu. Despite the morons that typically try destroying islands in the name of commerce on a regular basis, Sibu has remained a relatively lovely unspoiled place. The area around Sibu being turned into a Marine Park some years back has also helped. So we decided to build 6 A frames, virtually on the beach, the other side of the Dive Base, Bar & Restaurant from the Sea Gypsy chalets so that back packers could return to Sibu. Hope you'll take the opportunity to come and enjoy our particular piece of paradise, as long as it lasts!

An "A frame" is an absolutely lovely Malay building that looks like the letter A when standing in front of it. Ours are constructed from wood & atap (roofing made from palm fronds). The floor throughout is green cement, which keeps the place nice and cool.		Each A frame has it's own small sea facing verandah with two seats. There's also a good light making it possible to read outside at night, not to mention find your way home after being in the bar at night!

The ensuite bathroom has gloss white cement walls for light, plus easy care, hand shower, hand basin, mirror, foot tap, toilet with overhead light. The tap water is drinkable (our own delicious well water).		Each bedroom has an oscillating wall fan, overhead light and shelving. 3 of the A frames have a king frame with 2 single mattresses made up separately and 3 have twin beds, sheets and pillows are provided. All can take an extra bed.

Sea Gypsy's menu provides a variety of delicious dishes at very reasonable rates. We offer plenty of choice f or vegetarians and vegans. Our kitchen is open from 8 a.m. till 10 p.m.

Dan's Dive, our bar, is open from 10 a.m. till whenever everyone has finished drinking (hence it's reputation as "the bar that never closes"!). We offer every type of alcohol, with a wine list that is varied and affordable, and cocktails with delicious fresh made coconut milk. We also sell post cards, crisps & biscuits, ice cream & sweeties, batteries, films & disposable cameras plus all types of toiletries and lotions & potions for sun, beach & bites.

The Sea Gypsy Shop sells a variety of goods from resort tee shirts & caps to sarongs to beaded sandals to snorkeling equipment. Since the buyer, i.e. me, purchases anything she happens to see anywhere she happens to be that she likes you're never sure what you might find!!
